Word Up

Duran Duran, lipgloss and all.

So, Korn are busy freaking out their younger fans with an uptempo version of the 1986 Cameo classic, "Word Up" to promote their upcoming 'Greatest Hits' CD. I'm sure some of the kids are going into apoplexy when they hear it, but it's not such as surprise when you remember they've worked with Ice Cube and Tré Hardson from The Pharcyde previously, not to mention blatantly lifted entire Cypress Hill basslines (OK, they were Black Sabbath ones to begin with, but anyway...)

Anyway, this brings to mind a a conversation I had Jonathan Davis in London years ago. We were standing around killing time, and checking out all these die-hard kids with huge Korn logo tattoos on their arms and legs coming into the show. He shook his head in disbelief and made what is now a even more valid point:

"Dude, what are they going to do when we put out a Duran Duran covers album?"
