"AFC all the way"

Chris Kamara

Chris Kamara of all people wrote up a hugely positive article in The Sun on AFC Wimbledon yesterday:

Wimbledon are a progressive club with tons of ambition, money and fabulous spirit.

And no, before you ask, I have not been drinking.

The text then goes on to praise our achievements, and in particular, our great goalscoring record -- although saying we're a staggering 55 points clear of nearest challengers Wallingford isn't entirely accurate, though it's rare that reporting errs in our favour. (It's actually 18 points and my guess that he over-excitedly read the goal difference column on the league table instead.)

After a little more nostalgic reminiscing about the good old days, he goes on to give the Franchise one last good kicking:

So the fairytale is no more. AFC Wimbledon need to climb three more rungs up the ladder to get into the Football League and begin another.

Don't be surprised if they pass their namesakes sliding in the opposite direction.

What makes the article all the more interesting is that I believe that his son Malvin Kamara plays for the Milton Keynes-based team. Sounds like another exit on the cards this summer then.

I demand a census tomorrow of exactly where all the Scousers are. Because, in a few months time, you won't meet one who won't claim that he was in Istanbul tonight.

AFC Wimbledon in the Daily Mail

Back in November 2004 Ivan Speck of the Daily Mail wrote a fantastically positive article about AFC Wimbledon, much to the surprise of much of our fanbase.

Early Day Motion 1491

Simultaneously showing the brilliance and occasional pointlessness of the British Parliamentary system, the MP for Wimbledon Roger Casale tabled an Early Day Motion regarding the successes of AFC Wimbledon.

AFC Wimbledon and the digital hub

With the recent relaunch (at least at the back-end) of AFC Wimbledon's official site, I've done my little bit for the team by putting together some other ways of getting at the site content.
